The Harvester family is excited to rejoice in the calling of Bob Ingle as Senior Pastor of our church! It was an awesome experience for everyone last Saturday as Bob had the opportunity to answer questions directly from our congregation and again on Sunday as we heard him deliver a strong message on prayer (Listen Online!). The spirit of anticipation and celebration was apparent on Sunday as God moved in our midst. We look forward to this new leadership as we continue to express the love of Christ to
our world that desperately needs Him!

May 18, 2008
Special Business Meetings following the morning services were held in order to elect four candidates to fill out the Nominating Committee. The four new members Carl Bearden, Rhenda Tharp, Chris Thorn, and Sonia Vicars have joined the existing members Shari Hammer, Mike Grueter, and Elaine Henson. This committee will now meet to nominate a slate of of five people (and perhaps a couple of alternates) to serve on a Pastor Search Committee.
What is the process for hiring a new Senior Pastor?
Our church Constitution and Bylaws outline this process. First, the Board will submit to the congregation the names of four people to serve on the Nominating Committee, bringing its total to seven. Then the Nominating Committee will meet, spend time in prayer, and bring to the congregation a slate of five people (perhaps plus one or two alternates) to serve on a Pastor Search Committee (PSC).
One the Pastor Search Committee is formed, they will meet with the Board of Stewards, existing ministerial staff, and perhaps consultant-type individuals who might be able to give them counsel and guidance for this process. The PSC will probably survey the congregation to develop a specific profile of the type of man our church will need as its next pastor: qualifications, age, education, gifting, etc.
Then they will begin to go through the resumes they've been sent. They'll listen to DVD's of messages, etc. When they have developed a "short list," they may go to the minister's church and hear him preach, meet him and his wife, etc. When they finally settle on the one man they believe should be the next pastor of FBCH, he will probably come quietly to the FBCH campus and meet with existing staff and leaders. The PSC will then announce his name to the church, along with information about him. He will come for a weekend: he'll meet with leadership groups and staff again, he'll answer questions, and he'll preach so that all may hear him. Then, in a business meeting afterward, the church will vote either to call (hire) him or not to call him.
